Finally The Truth About Hiding Assets and Investments In Your Separation or Divorce!

Let’s face it:  If your spouse is acting secretively over a period of time, they could easily be hiding assets and investments from you so that you don’t get a fair financial settlement in your separation or divorce.

Hi, my name is Thomas O’Malley.  I’m an experienced family lawyer in Durham Region and the GTA.

You already know some of the ways to tell whether your spouse is hiding assets or investments from you.

Let’s get an even better understanding of your spouse’s sneaky strategies so that you recognize them and you and your lawyer can thoroughly investigate this financially dangerous situation for you.

FACT: Your spouse is trying to give you a false picture of their financial situation when they are not providing full financial disclosure to you in your separation or divorce.

Your spouse is most likely trying accomplish one of these objectives:

-hide, understand or undervalue assets and investments

-inflate the amount of their debts

-report lower than actual revenue or income

-report higher than actual expenses

Your spouse could, for example, hiding revenue paid in the form of cash.   Cash often lacks a paper trail.

Your spouse could easily be keeping two sets of accounting books.  One set of books is what they want you and the taxman to see.   The other set of books is the real records of revenue and expenses for their business.

You must also carefully watch out for any situation in which your spouse is allegedly selling a property or an investment.

The problem is that they are not selling this asset to a real third party.

They are simply transferring ownership of the property or assets to a friend or family member who will transfer the property or assets back to your spouse when the separation or divorce is finalized.

Your spouse keeps feeding you a “poor me” story.  Your spouse is hoping you believe that they have little money or assets that you will not chase them any longer.

Your spouse wants you to accept a financial settlement that benefits them much more than it does you!

Discuss these important financials issues in your separation or divorce with your family lawyer.
