Your lawyer certainly wants to be calm and act in a business-like manner.
Your lawyer understands that you can be dealing with a lot of frustration and anxiety in your separation or divorce.
However, you can work most effectively with your lawyer by venting your emotions with your friends and family members. Your support network is what you need to deal with the emotional side of your separation or divorce.
That doesn’t mean that your lawyer shouldn’t be empathetic towards you and your situation. However, your lawyer’s real job is to protect your family law rights so that you can get a fair and reasonable settlement for you. Then you can move on with your life.
You must pay your lawyer on time and in full. That will certainly keep you lawyer happy and maintain a good rapport with them.
You need to follow certain principles so that you maintain a good working relationship with your lawyer:
Don’t call your lawyer four times a day asking for updates. When your lawyer has news for you, they will contact you and tell you what you need to know.
And don’t contact your lawyer outside business unless it’s an emergency. Your lawyer has a family and kids as well in most cases.
As I already mentioned, don’t expect your lawyer to solve your emotional issues in your separation or divorce. Make sure you have a solid support network and a personal counsellor to help you work through the difficult emotional process of getting separated or divorced.
Don’t expect your lawyer to be a super hero. Your lawyer cannot make your former spouse be a nice person or accept a fair and reasonable settlement offer.
When you act fairly and reasonably with your lawyer and follow these principles, you establish an excellent working relationship with your family lawyer.
This means you will get better results in your case since you and your lawyer are work well together to protect your family law rights and get a sold family law settlement for you.
