Essential Family Law Advice I Would Give to My Brother or Sister If They Were Getting Separated or Divorced!
Have you ever wished someone would give you the key family law advice you need to know to win in your separation or divorce?
In the next few videos, I am going to give you my best advice on how to win in your separation or divorce just like if you were my own brother or sister who was getting separated or divorced and you wanted my help.
Hi, my name is Thomas O’Malley. I’m an experienced family lawyer in Durham Region and the GTA.
1. Make sure you make the right decision about your separation or divorce.
You want to make sure that getting separated or divorced is the right decision for you. You should never take this decision lightly.
You should seriously consider relationship counselling. This can often put a relationship or marriage back on track to a successful relationship.
In short, don’t rush into a separation or divorce.
2. Start to understand your family law rights in Ontario.
You must start to understand the separation and divorce process in Ontario. What are your family law rights? How do you deal with parental decision-making for your children? How much time do your children spend with each parent?
Are you entitled to receive child support or spousal support? Do you have to pay child support or spousal support?
What happens to your home?
You can start to get an understanding of your family law rights by visiting the blog sites of some experienced family lawyers in Ontario.
You’ll find invaluable articles and blog posts about your family law rights at my website, www.canadiandivorcelegaladvice.com and watch videos on the key family law issues in a separation or divorce on my Facebook business page, that’s O’Malley Family Law, or my Youtube channel, Thomas O’Malley-Family Lawyer.
3. Get personal counselling to cope with the difficult emotional issues and trauma of your separation or divorce.
Many spouses have a really difficult time emotionally with their separation or divorce. That’s completely understandable. Separation and divorce are life-changing events in your life. Of course, it’s difficult for most spouses.
You should seriously consider getting personal counselling to help deal with the emotional aspects of the end of your marriage or common-law relationship.
Personal counselling can help you survive this difficult time in your life by giving you coping tools to deal with your frustration, anxiety, stress and sadness.
Do not use your lawyer as a therapist. They are not trained as therapists. Your lawyer’s job is to give your excellent family law advice, protect your family law rights and help settle your case with a fair and reasonable separation agreement or court settlement.
