1. Have you tried marriage counselling?
When you have put some much time and energy into your relationship or marriage, you should seriously consider marriage or relationship counselling.
Marriage counselling has, in fact, saved many marriages and relationships.
Often, your health or medical plan with your employer makes marriage counselling available to you at a very reasonable rate.
You should definitely consider marriage counselling before you start the separation or divorce process.
2. Are you children in a position to handle your separation or divorce?
Your children need to be as stable as possible to handle a separation or divorce.
Try to make sure your children are doing well in school and they have a solid number of good friends they can lean on in this difficult time.
If your children are dealing with any particular difficult personal issues, you might want to hold off your separation or divorced until your children are doing better and their problems are under control.
3. Is your spouse working?
You want to make sure your spouse is working before you get separated or divorced.
You could easily face much higher spousal support payments, if any, when your spouse is unemployed.
4. Is your financial situation good enough to get separated or divorced right now?
You have to make sure you have your finances in order to make sure you get deal with the financial issues during your separation or divorce.
For example, you must make sure you have to set aside enough money to start paying for your new residence. Can you pay the rent or mortgage for your new residence on a regular basis?
