Now is the time to make sure you are using this essential family law advice on how to deal with your separation or divorce to win your family law case.
As I discussed in some other videos, people getting separated or divorced need to follow some key family law advice to achieve their goals and settle their family law issues so that they can move on with their lives.
Hi, my name is Thomas O’Malley. I’m an experienced family lawyer in Durham Region and the GTA.
Here are some really practical tips you need to start following when you are getting separated or divorced:
10. Stay Off Social Media.
It’s so easy to go on Facebook and other social media sites and create posts that can seriously damage your family law case.
For example, spouses often have photos of themselves at parties and other social events that are not flattering at all. These photos can be used against you in family court.
In fact, your ex-spouse’s lawyer is probably already reviewing your social media footprint to see what they can use against you.
You may also be tempted to make negative comments about your former spouse on social media. Don’t do this. This can only hurt your case.
In fact, it becomes much more difficult to settle your family law issues with your former spouse when you have angered them with your negative comments. It’s simply not a smart thing to do.
11. Change Your Passwords on Your Electronic Devices.
You must change your passwords for your electronic devices, email, and online accounts immediately.
You don’t want your spouse to have access to your sensitive personal information in any way.
12. Don’t Let Your Emotions, Stress or Anxiety Force You to Make Bad Decisions in Your Separation or Divorce!
It’s so important to stay cool, calm and collected as much as possible There’s no doubt your separation or divorce will take longer than you want.
Don’t let the stress and anxiety of your separation or divorce compel you to make bad decisions that you most certainly will regret later because your family law case is taking longer than you want.
You need to especially make important financial decisions from a professional, business-like point of view.
